Hyperinsulinism also known as Hyperinsulimia is a condition in which your body will have an increased level of insulin in your blood stream. If you are suffering from Hyperinsulinism, your body will be producing more insulin than is needed for normal sugar management. Insulin is produced by an organ in your body called the pancreas.

The pancreas responds to the level of sugar in your blood and produces enough insulin to help your cells absorb the sugar for energy. If you have too much insulin, your blood sugar level can drop dangerously low and result in weakness, dizziness or even coma and death in extreme circumstances. This is a very serious condition that should lead to immediate action.

Hyperinsulinism or Hyperinsulimia can be caused or result from a number of factors. In general, the causes are commonly put into two different categories, organic or functional. An organic cause for Hyperinsulinism could be a tumor inside or on the pancreas, certain endocrine disorders, or a decrease in liver function.

However, functional causes of Hyperinsulinism can be overexertion from prolonged exercise, pregnancy, or lactation while breast feeding after pregnancy. All of these conditions can cause blood sugar levels to drop due to an increase in insulin.

Hyperinsulinism can also be found among diabetic patients. It is most often a side effect of taking too much insulin and is often referred to as insulin shock in this case. This can happen if a diabetic patient takes a normal insulin dose, but does not eat enough sugar or exercises too much or it can also be an accidental overdose.

In rare cases, a patient can be misdiagnosed with diabetes and given insulin when it is not needed. Some patients may experience this condition during the first few days after diagnosis as they are trying to determine the correct amount of insulin that is needed. In every case it is imperative to bring the blood sugar levels back within the normal range.

The treatment options for hyperinsulinism will vary based on what the initial cause is of the condition. If the cause is organic, surgery might be required to remove a tumor. However, if the condition is functional measure should be taken to manage proper sugar levels. This may be done in many of the same ways as diabetes by using a glucose meter.

Instead of taking more insulin, the patient would need to consume more sugar. If the condition is organic because of a tumor or defect in the pancreas or liver, there may be many options including surgery. In rare cases some people are required to ingest excessive amounts of sugar until the condition can be treated.

When hyperinsulinism occurs in diabetic patients, proper insulin management is be required to prevent a future overdose of insulin. In most cases, there are no medications to manage the condition, other than glucose or natural sugar. You might consider purchasing glucose bars or tablets to eat or take.

In most cases, prevention is the key to Hyperinsulinism. If the condition occurs often you should speak with your doctor for suggestions to better regulate your insulin doses.

Managing blood sugar levels requires a balanced and planned diet which must be accompanied by the right diabetes medication to manage and control the disease and not allow it to worsen. Taking exercise seriously is highly recommended together with losing weight, although there is no avoiding the fact that diabetes medication are the most effective in controlling different types of diabetes and they can be taken orally or injected.

Helps Bring Down Blood Sugar Levels

It is common for a diabetic to have very high blood sugar levels that persists over a period of time, and which warrants taking diabetes medication and performing other activities as well that will help keep the problem in check and prevent it from worsening. When insulin is not available in proper quantities, and when a person suffers type 1 diabetes, then the best course of action would be taking diabetes medication in the form of insulin that can be injected in order to bring down blood sugar levels. On the other hand, for those with a type 2 diabetes problem, the answer may lie in low cost diabetes medications taken in the form of pills which will increase blood glucose.

The pills themselves require different ingredients and there are five classes of such drugs which include sulfonylurea, thiazolidinediones, biguanides, melitinindes as well as alpha-glucosidase inhibitors that are all what goes into the pills that you take to treat diabetes. Each of these diabetes medications works differently and can reduce blood sugar while also enhancing the production of insulin as required with different diabetic conditions.

However, as part of your diabetes care you should ensure that the drug you are taking is safe to use and it does not do your body any harm as there have been incidences in the past of drugs that have caused hepatitis and disease of the liver. Due to the known problems with these diabetes medications they were subsequently withdrawn from sale.

One such diabetes medication is the drug named Troglitazone whose main function was to reduce instances of type 2 diabetes and which was also thought to provide relief from complications arising from resistance to insulin and also from diseases of the ovaries. However, this diabetes medication was found to have been the cause of serious damage to the liver, and was till a few years back, available as Rezulin and also Romozin. So, if you come across a diabetes medication such as this you will need to be very careful about using it if you do not want to affect your overall health level.

Thus, you need to act only on the advice of your doctor, who in most cases will be sure to have monitored your liver condition to ensure that no damage is being caused due to low cost diabetes medications when you shop for diabetic medical supplies.

Gastric bypass surgery has been shown to reverse type 2 diabetes in adults. But with the rising obesity rate and increase in type 2 diabetes in adolescents, is gastric bypass an option to turn around diabetes in obese teens?

A recent study, published in the January, 2009 issue of the Pediatrics journal, shows that gastric bypass surgery does lead to remission of type 2 diabetes and it’s symptoms, as well as a decrease in blood pressure and risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

The study involved adolescents who underwent Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and who were morbidly obese with a BMI of approximately fifty. There was remission of diabetes in all but 1 of the participants.

According to the article, there were improvements in all of these areas; Improvements in BMIFasting blood glucoseFasting insulin concentrationsHemoglobin A1c levels (7.3%–5.6%),Insulin sensitivitySerum lipid levels Blood pressure Improvements in weight, BMI, blood pressure and A1c continued or held stable, one year after the surgery.

It’s not known what the long term effects of gastric bypass surgery on such young patients might be.

What is your opinion on gastric bypass surgery for morbidly overweight teens who have type 2 diabetes? Should the surgery be an option, or should more conventional methods of weight loss be used?

It is a fact that diabetes is a huge health concern in the West which can be seen when we find that there are an estimated three to five percent Westerners affected by this silent killer of a disease, and an estimated one million Canadians are also so affected. Diabetes generally causes an individual’s body cells to become unable to absorb as well as use glucose in an adequate manner and for various reasons including becoming resistant to the hormone known as insulin or because of lack of insulin. And, without proper diabetes care, the patient’s body cells may become starved of fuel that is needed to provide energy to the body and sugar will not then be able to get into the cells, thus causing elevated levels of it in the blood.

Change Diet, Exercise Sufficiently And Take Medications

There are both immediate health problems associated with diabetes as well as long term complications and to prevent the condition from worsening, obviously the diabetic requires proper diabetes care. Thus, to manage diabetes may require paying special attention to the diet the patient takes, and the need for them to exercise adequately and to also take medications whenever required so as to control blood sugar levels and keep the level as close to normal as is possible. Furthermore, diabetes can take either one of three forms that are Type 1, Type 2 and also gestational diabetes, with the last mentioned form of diabetes affecting only pregnant women.

Thus, it stands to reason that diabetes care is an essential requirement in order to monitor as well as ensure that the diabetic is taking adequate care to control the problem, and in this, there are few ways that he or she can check their condition, especially when in a pre-diabetic stage, and before the diabetes becomes a full blown issue.

It is certainly necessary for the patient to know of his or her family history, and if someone in the immediate family was or still is a diabetic, then chances of the individual also being diabetic is increased. However, one of the problems with diabetes care is that it often requires a lot of effort and it can easily tire the individual out, and thus should only be used if it cannot be avoided. Having a regular checkup is one aspect of diabetes care that is not so tiresome and which can and should be done in order to closely keep tabs on the progress or lack of it in a patient’s health.

Avoiding smoking is another aspect of diabetes care, and in any case proper care is a continuous process that requires closely monitoring the health to ensure fewer further complications, and to also manage the existing condition and keeping it as close to normal as is possible. Being vigilant is also another aspect to diabetes care and so is having an eye examination performed which must be taken once in a year at least, because diabetes will affect a person’s eyes and thus needs to be addressed at the earliest.

In todays age of fast food and sedentary lifestyle, diabetes has reached plague proportions. It is caused by mismanagement of carbohydrate metabolism in the body.

Diabetes is identified with the excessive production of urine, hunger, thirst and excessive loss of weight, blurred vision, and delay in healing of skin, repeated infection, and excessive fatigue. Longevity, health and well being are all negatively impacted by the presence of diabetes. The main concern in the treatment of diabetes is controlling blood glucose levels. Managing blood sugar is the stepping-stone of successfully treating diabetes.

Adopting a lifestyle of healthy eating and regular exercise is tantamount in alleviating the complications of living with diabetes. Good activities for exercise include swimming, biking, hiking, jogging, walking, and any other exercise activities that get the heart and lungs working. To control and manage a safe level of blood glucose levels, frequent blood sugar testing is required.

It’s important to be aware of the correct range of glucose blood sugar levels. Age is a determining factor on healthy blood glucose levels. For younger people without complications, the suitable range of glucose is generally 80-120 mg/dL and in older people it is 100-140 mg/dL.

There are numerous medicines for treating diabetes, which your physician can tell you about. One common medicine is Glucophage. Glucophage regulates blood sugar levels and is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes.

It works in three ways:-

1) by reducing the amount of sugar (glucose) produced by your liver;

2) by making insulin produced in the body work more efficiently at lowering glucose in the blood;

3) by lowering glucose absorption.

Glucophage comes in both 500 mg and 850 mg size pills.

You can Purchase Glucophage On-line - No Prescription in pack sizes ranging from 100 to 800 pills by visiting http://pharmessential.com where you can Buy Medications On-line - No Rx - No Membership Fee

Always talk to your own physician before considering taking Glucophage or any other prescription drugs.

Your BMI is an indicator of your appropriate weight for your height and is a more reliable indicator of body fat than just weight alone. It’s a good way to find out whether you are normal, overweight or obese.

But that’s not all you can use a BMI chart for. You can also use it to track your progress as you diet. For example, when I first went on my diet, I checked the BMI chart to see where my weight fell. I weighed 174 and 5′4″ tall. According to a BMI chart that put me in the obese range. Until that moment, I had been telling myself that I was just a little overweight. Knowing the truth can be a powerful motivator. It was for me.

The BMI chart is also handy for tracking how well you are doing on your diet. As my weight went down, I recorded the date on the chart, everytime I passed a milestone weight. In three years of dieting, I moved my BMI from 30 to 22. If I ever need motivation to stay on my diet, I just look at how far I’ve come on my BMI chart.

Progress has been very slow over the last few years with regards to research and treatment of diabetes. Around 15 years ago patients were starting to be diagnosed as being “borderline diabetes” or “pre-diabetes” even while they were enjoying holidays abroad. Some argued this lead to a false sense of reassurance. Treatment for diabetes usually wasn’t started, as it wasn’t thought of as being necessary, since you were still in a grace period but then the patient often got worse.

The patient actually became worse because there is no such condition as “borderline diabetes”. It’s like being pregnant – there is no such thing as being only a little bit pregnant. You are either pregnant or you are not. It’s the same with diabetes. You either have it or you don’t. There are no known symptoms or signs that point to you having “borderline diabetes”.

Unfortunately, decades ago, it was thought that the body put of signs and symptoms that cried out that it was developing diabetes. This is what “borderline diabetes” was called. However, that hope has died. The body does not give off any warning signs before you have to start managing your insulin and diet. You just fall head over heels right into being a diabetic.

However, you can show worse symptoms with your diabetes than the next diabetic. Blood sugar levels differ and symptoms differ. This is kind of like where the myth of “borderline diabetes” got started. The ones who weren’t too affected in their everyday life and didn’t go easily into comas must be only have “borderline diabetes”. No, it was because they managed their health better.

If a senior relative or friend insists that they have only “borderline diabetes”, don’t argue. This is probably what they were told years ago and it’s stuck in their heads. In time, the terms “borderline diabetes” and “pre-diabetes” can be put to rest.

There are many natural cures for diabetes that you can try that can help control your blood sugar levels. There are basically two types of diabetics healthy diet and natural diabetes supplement that you can use. Type 2 diabetes patients will have the most success with using natural methods to produce insulin or controlling blood sugars levels.

Diabetic patients usually have problems creating insulin which is a natural hormone made by the pancreas. There are two types of diabetes. Type 1 diabetics will most likely need to depend on insulin injections and natural diabetics supplements such as Optimum Diabetics will not be able to help much. Type 2 diabetes patients can control their diets and take natural diabetes supplement to help control the illness.

Although diabetes medicine are effective in controlling glucose levels, they have some severe side effects and more and more people are turning to natural remedies for diabetes for help.

Some examples of natural remedies for diabetes include onions and garlic. Recent studies have shown that eating onions and garlic can significantly reduce blood sugar levels for long periods of time. It is best to prepare them raw as cooking can make them lose their valuable compounds.

Cayenne pepper is another natural diabetes cure and helps to improve blood circulation. Natural vegetable juices such as those from carrots, coconuts and cabbage also works well as natural diabetes remedies.

However, before you decide to take any natural diabetes supplements or natural remedies, it is best to seek the advice of your doctor. Ultimately, as your doctor will probably point out, your diet will play an important role in determining whether you can cure your own diabetes.

If you are looking for natural diabetes supplements, i highly recommend Optimum Diabetics. Click here to learn more about this diabetes supplement and how it can prevent and stop your diabetes problem.

Food prices and the cost of living is going up on almost constantly so when you have diabetes it is important to know how to shop wisely. This can include the purchasing of type2 diabetes food. In order to keep the type2 diabetes food costs down you will need to know what is a good substitute and what is not. This means that you can buy some food instead of other.

Frozen or canned vegetables can help you save in some of your food budget. However in order to maximise your savings you should aim to create an easy to prepare menu. This will help you buy only the food that you need that week, as you will know what ingredients you will be using.

The most recommended type2 diabetes food is that which contain carbohydrate such as potatoes, bread etc but this does not mean that you will only have to eat such foods. The key is maintaining an overall balance that you improve your life. This includes changing your lifestyle and attitude about type2 diabetes exercise, which is also key in maintaining you diseases. Everything about life is moderation and gluttony and overindulgence is never a good thing for anyone.

Knowing The Right Type2 Diabetes Food Helps You Preserve Your Life

Having a disease such as diabetes can have an emotional and physical strain on your body. When you are newly diagnosed you will not have to worry too much about preparing menus on your own accord, because your doctor will advice you to see a dietician or nutritionist who will be able to guide you on the type2 diabetes food.

This means that a massive weight of worry would be lifted off your shoulders, as you will be given some important guidance. The key to type2 diabetes food is that you just have to cut down on the amount of sugar that you consume as it does directly influence the glucose levels in your blood.

Most often you will be told that you need to eat more raw fruit, as you will be able to get more natural sugars from these and more vegetables. Type2 diabetes food is also low in salt and fat, so you will definitely have to change your eating habits to ones that will benefit your body.

If you find it hard to start then you should use the buddy system where you get your friends and family involved in living healthier and longer. Life is for living and not spending getting sick, enjoy the outdoors and have fun.
